Still Laughing, Still Dreaming
Still Laughing, Still Dreaming: How Two Moms Built a Business, Survived Life’s Storms, and Stayed Young at Heart.
Let’s just be real — being a mom is already a full-time job. Add in careers, building a business from the ground up, real-life heartbreaks, and the never-ending hope to still have fun and feel like yourself? Yeah… it’s a lot.
We’re Tricia and Barbie — sister-in-laws, best friends, moms, and co-founders of Twisted Moms, a brand we launched back in 2018. We’ve been through the trenches of motherhood, life, love, and loss. And through it all, we’ve managed to build something we’re proud of while holding onto our joy, grit, and (most days) our sanity.
This post isn’t a how-to manual. It’s a “we’ve been there” letter to other moms — the ones grinding every day, pouring from empty cups, chasing dreams with kids on their hips or in college, and still wanting to laugh with their girls on a Friday night.
The Start of Something Wild (and Worth It)
We started Twisted Moms in 2018. It wasn’t glamorous. There was no angel investor or shiny office. Just two moms with a vision, a lot of late-night texts, and a deep belief that we could build something for ourselves — something that mattered.
I (Barbie) was navigating a life as a single mom after a divorce. Tricia and her family were walking through one of the scariest and toughest battles imaginable: their son fighting cancer. But after a lot of talking and planning, even in the middle of all of it, we said, Let’s do this!
We needed something that belonged to us — something outside of school lunches, careers, doctor’s appointments, and deadlines. Our business became a lifeline, a form of therapy, and a reminder that even in the chaos, we are still women with big dreams.
The Juggle Is Real
Fast-forward to now: we’re still running that business — selling women's fashion we love and customizing T-shirts, hoodies, mugs, tumblers, and baby onesies for women who, just like us, are juggling a lot and still want to feel good doing it.
We also have other careers. We’re still moms. And we still try to make time for the things that make us feel alive — a spontaneous road trip, a late-night laugh session, or just dancing like idiots in the living room.
Balancing it all? It’s messy. Some weeks we’re on top of the world. Other weeks, it’s coffee, dry shampoo, and prayers on repeat. But here’s the truth: you don’t have to choose between being a great mom and chasing your dreams.
You can build a life where you do both. It won’t be perfect. But it can be meaningful.
What We’ve Learned (So Far)
Here’s what we’d tell any other mom out there who feels like she’s drowning in diapers, deadlines, or doubt:
-
Start anyway. You don’t need the perfect moment. Just a little courage and one small step.
-
Give yourself grace. You’ll mess up. You’ll forget things. You’ll cry in your car sometimes. That doesn’t mean you’re failing — it means you’re trying.
-
Find your people. Whether it’s your sister-in-law, your neighbor, or your ride-or-die group chat — lean on the ones who get it.
-
Keep laughing. Seriously! Laughter is medicine. It helps when nothing else makes sense.
-
Don’t lose yourself. You’re not just a mom, a worker, a business owner. You’re still YOU — and you matter.
Still Here. Still Dreaming.
We’ve been through some stuff. Cancer. Divorce. Financial stress. Exhaustion. Fear. But none of it stopped us. And it won’t stop you, either.
We’re here to say: it’s possible. To start again. To build something real. To cry your eyes out and still laugh until it hurts. To be a great mom and still feel young, wild, and full of fire.
So, to the mom reading this — we see you. Keep going. Keep dreaming. Keep dancing. Life’s not always pretty, but it can still be so good.
And if you ever need a little pick-me-up, a cute dress, a sexy blouse, a badass hoodie, or a tee that says what you’re really thinking — we got you!
